Line Numbers

StrongED can display - or not display, it is your choice, line numbers. They are useful for most programming - when errors are usually reported by line numbers - but not normally useful for writing text. linenos/png

One example of when they are usefully switched on is when writing a simple www page. For writing, they are not useful and are probably confusing. But - if you validate the page, errors are reported by line number. So you can use key F5 to GoTo a line. Easy! But there is a problem: if , for instance, you use a SSI (Server Side Include) to insert a common header, then the reported errror lines will not agree with StrongED. StrongED has a solution!

Switch lines on/off

This is done via the menu system as shown. The LineNumbers dialogue box has many options. Start number can be adjusted to suit the use.
