Fred thanks for your explanation which has clarified how to run programs 
from StrongED.

It turns out that the default Python Mode file already supports the 
function to run from a select icon click.
  Icon Run
  Select SetTmp() SaveRun("<StrongED$Tmp_FileName>")


It was not working for me because the Python ModeWhen file caters for for 
python27 (AE5). I have now amended the ModeWhen to recognise python3 (A73) 
as well.
