Terminology is very definitely a problem: ideally I need to distinctly
colour (or otherwise identify) words that have a specific technical
meaning. As yet, I cannot even list them!
But a definition of Macro is
"A comparatively human-friendly abbreviation of complex input to a
computer program."
So the index will certainly list shortcuts as Macros since that is what
users may be looking for. The context being made plain by the sub item and
context. In any event, in the index
http://stronged.torrens.org/man/indexA.html
this is under Macro expansion.
So I think no confusion. But we certainly agree on the aim!

I evidently did not make my misunderstanding clear. What does 'Space'
mean?
``1' '
\@
\n\@
does not work. I tried various other ways of putting in a space, then
asked!

In the "digest it later, when my brain doesn't ache" box! Thanks.
