I've been experimenting... The WindOpen module from 
  https://armclub.org.uk/free/
has a command 
  *WO_CloseWind <taskname> <window name>

It also has a command
  *WO_WindowDump <filename>
which dumps a <filename> showing all open windows.

But the list of windows that could be extracted from a StrongED LoF does
not include full paths which WO_CloseWind needs to close the window
successfully.

So this combination is nearly there - with a deep apparently uncrossable
chasm!
