[StrongED] StrongED Instructions
Fred and I have been considering the instructions. He suggests we throw
the matter open to listers.
The existing StrongHelp manual is quite impressive - but it's more of a
reference manual than anything else.
StrongHelp has problems - many (including me!) don't like it. SH manuals
also rarely have proper indexes or contents pages. So it is difficult to
know what is there so pages get missed.
Also it's hypertext - it is very easy to follow interesting links and
totally forget what you started out to look up.
PDF is not ideal on RISC OS. Not everyone will have Impression or
OvationPro - 1nd they are aimed at printed works. I don't think anyone is
likely to want to try printing a StrongED manual.
So we're left with plain text. Not ideal, I think.
Which leaves html. Like StrongeHelp that also has no inherent structure.
But a sort of structure can be forced on it by a good context page and a
really good index. Also we can have a previous - index - contents - next
set of buttons at the bottom, where appropriate.
I have more ideas - but it's open for discussion. Suggestions please. And
would anyone be prepared to help writing it?
