That I did not know. It could be very useful.
But I cannot make it work.....
Click Menu over S&R window and it evaporates as normal when clicked
outside. (4.70a12 (23-Apr-2017))
So can you elaborate please?

Which is ii essence what I do - but I do not find replace strings to be
'simple'. Often with more than one @12 etc

No. I find that most of the stored S&R strings don't get re-used. It's
generally different strings for each project. Which is why the request
because using f7 to fill in both lines of the S&R is complicated!
I do have some stored as macros - using David Thomas' !Makro 1.59
(which he gave up in 2000 so that is on my
site http://diy.Torrens.org/RO/ ). Makro has a hot-key facility so is
not too difficult to use with SE's S&R. Makro itself needs some escaping
of control characters, so adding that to a complicated S7R expression is
usually more trouble than it's worth!
