StrongED has a concept known as 'the one-window'. They are a set of
windows of which only one can be open at any one time. Most of the
dialogue boxes fall in this category.

One-windows are opened in transient mode and they will close if clicked
outside or they lose input focus. You can make them semi-permanent by
clicking Menu over them, they will then not close when clicked outside.

Changing this for the S&R window only, although possible, is something
that I would prefer not to do.

Could you not create the Advanced search string first. Then open the S&R
window and transfer the search string? The replace string is IME usually
simple enough to be entered directly.

Are these in the global Patterns file so that they can be referred to by
name?
