Don't delete anything.  It might be better though to divide the pages up
into, say, threads started in 2012, 2013 etc... or even -depending on the
traffic volumes, threads for eg 

    before 2000
    from   2000-2005
    from   2006-2010

etc, to limit the size of each index page.
