It's a while since I tried - at a guess, either the requirement to
softload something before the desktop (I don't run the Universal Boot on
that machine) or else an updated Window Manager.   Possibly one and the
same thing.   I ended up simply adapting !Styx to provide a transient
directory on the small partition, as I was already running it to provide
a daily bin directory.

I'll have to check again some time;  since we don't have an
Internet-connected machine with a floppy drive and the A5000 doesn't
have a network card, moving software around is less than trivial.
