The help page associated with the Misc tab in choices does mention this.

When there's a directory already at the target location that has the
same name as the temporary directory Transient now asks if you want to
use it as the temporary directory. It still complains when there's an
(image-) file with the same name present.

Let me know if you want to try out the latest version prior to its
release. The main change, apart from the above, is that it's now
possible to expire directories for all users at once.
