[StrongED] Text printing with headers - problems with page length

Hello list members,

With the laser printer I'm using, in StrongED's print dialogue I have
to manually change the page size length (in chars) for every instance
otherwise the page headers and footers spill onto the wrong pages and
waste a blank sheet at the end.

StrongED's help file says...
"When there is a printer driver available StrongED will use the system
variable PDriver$TextPage to find the paper size. Unfortunately this
is a bit unreliable due to different printer drivers setting different
dimensions for the same paper format.

It's even worse in some cases when Printers is set to print a page
header; the page height is increased instead of being decreased. This
results in too many lines to be sent to the printer causing lines to
spill onto the next page.

If this happens reduce the page height in the Print dialogue box
before starting to print."

The second paragraph sounds to me like a bug in !Printers, but I'm not
sure where to go from here. I wonder; is this something I could log as
a bug on the ROOL tracker, which might then be fixed?

Ewen Pring

More detail...

StrongED 4.68 (26 Apr 2009) in use.

'Print headers and footers' ticked in print dialogue.

Always defaults back to page size in chars as taken from system
variable PDriver$TextPage. This is width = 77 height = 66 for the lj
type printer driver I use.

But only height = 64 works properly (avoids blank extra pages or the
wrong page number being shown at the wrong place in the page).

Cannot set a default in StrongED for the height.

Trying to amend the 'PCL-Duplex' printer definition file in !printedit
doesn't seem to have any relevant settings.

Paper size is A4 (LaserJet 6) with all text margins set to zero in the
"edit paper sizes" option of !printers.

!printers is set to "print title"
