I too prefer to minimize use of the keyboard.

OK, I think I understand now. The shift-dragging will produce an
absolute pathname, so you need to chop off an appropriate prefix,
switch the slashes and dots, and then add a new prefix to create
the URL in a form that your correspondent can click on to read from the
server where the file is hosted?

Re BTW2, I think we are at cross-purposes, each using the acronym
differently. I was intending, and reading, Wikipedia's sense of it.
